O2 looks to be landing itself an exclusive on the forthcoming Sony Ericsson X8 in the UK. O2’s October product catalogue lists the handset at £129.99 for PAYG and it’s branded as ‘Only on O2′. The price point is actually pretty good considering that the X8 is broadly comparable to the X10 Mini. The screen is bigger than the X10 Mini’s of course, but the camera is a bit weaker at 3.2 MP compared with the X10 Mini’s 5 MP sensor.

The downside tot his, and you knew there had to be a downside, is that it’s an exclusive on O2. Why is that a downside? Well O2 are not exactly the bets network in the UK. Not that any networks is perfect of course, but the frequent data outages and network failures don’t help their image any. Maybe the exclusivity won’t last … here’s hoping.

Hi all,
Previously on this blog we communicated that we will update our 2010 Xperia phones (Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro) to Android OS 2.1 in Q4. We are today happy to confirm that all of these phones will now get the update to Android 2.1 from the latter part of Q3 and onwards (timing will vary from market to market, some will be in Q4. Please follow this blog for further information with regards to exact timing of the upgrades). We are of course very glad to offer this upgrade earlier than originally planned. Xperia™ X10’s position will also be further strengthened through the addition of HD video recording as part of the same Q3 upgrade. A further upgrade to the Xperia™ X10 in Q4 will make it possible to connect and display wirelessly content on your television and enhance the Timescape™ and Mediascape applications. Read more…
