Today I can confirm that we will start the roll-out of the Android 2.1 based updates for Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro now this coming Sunday. The roll out will start in the evening European time.
So far I have received confirmation that the generic kits for the Nordic countries will be the very first ones out on Sunday evening and then there will be more kits coming already during Monday and then the roll-out will continue throughout the month of November. Read more…

This morning my friends over at our Extras department announced a new very cool accessory.
It’s called the Sony Ericsson LiveView™ and is kind of a new thing altogether so not that easy to describe, perhaps this video that Albin and Marcus put together does it best :-)
What is does is that is sits on your wrist (with an included wrist band) or as a clip somewhere and gives you a quick view of what’s going on in your phone. Like a second wireless interactive mini display. This means that you can have your phone in you pocket or in a bag and still be alerted with notifications on incoming stuff or keept track of other things. It has an OLED screen with 128×128 pixels and some interaction elements such as 4-way navigation (touch sensors at the front, just at the edges of the screen) and two hard buttons, one for power on and off and for menu selection. O2 looks to be landing itself an exclusive on the forthcoming Sony Ericsson X8 in the UK. O2’s October product catalogue lists the handset at £129.99 for PAYG and it’s branded as ‘Only on O2′. The price point is actually pretty good considering that the X8 is broadly comparable to the X10 Mini. The screen is bigger than the X10 Mini’s of course, but the camera is a bit weaker at 3.2 MP compared with the X10 Mini’s 5 MP sensor.

The downside tot his, and you knew there had to be a downside, is that it’s an exclusive on O2. Why is that a downside? Well O2 are not exactly the bets network in the UK. Not that any networks is perfect of course, but the frequent data outages and network failures don’t help their image any. Maybe the exclusivity won’t last … here’s hoping.

The Xperia™ X10 mini pro combines a convenient touchscreen and a slide-out QWERTY keypad in one compact mobile phone without any compromise on performance. And I am proud to say that it is by far the world’s smallest Android smartphone with full QWERTY keypad yet. With the four customisable corners and intuitive touch navigation the User Interface lying on top of the generic Android OS has been optimized for such a compact device. So you’ll get the ultimate control for easy one-hand use. Read more…
