Sony Ericsson LiveView™

October 7th, 2010 admin 1 comment

This morning my friends over at our Extras department announced a new very cool accessory.

It’s called the Sony Ericsson LiveView™ and is kind of a new thing altogether so not that easy to describe, perhaps this video that Albin and Marcus put together does it best :-)

What is does is that is sits on your wrist (with an included wrist band) or as a clip somewhere and gives you a quick view of what’s going on in your phone. Like a second wireless interactive mini display. This means that you can have your phone in you pocket or in a bag and still be alerted with notifications on incoming stuff or keept track of other things. It has an OLED screen with 128×128 pixels and some interaction elements such as 4-way navigation (touch sensors at the front, just at the edges of the screen) and two hard buttons, one for power on and off and for menu selection. Sony Ericssons Announces LiveView™ Bluetooth Accessory

October 7th, 2010 admin 9 comments

If you’ve been seriously disappointed in Sony Ericsson due to the delay in the Eclair Update for its Android range, then Sony Ericsson has just announced an accessory that might just cheer you up.

First things first, it is NOT an Ipod Nano; infact it seems quite similar (once attached to the watch kit) to the OLED bluetooth watchs which Sony Ericsson still produce.

As far as hardware goes, there are two buttons on the top of the screen and 4 soft keys at each end of its 128×128 1.3? screen. Software wise, the phone only supports Android phones with Sony Ericsson LiveWare™ Manager App installed. No, not your old K850 or your cute pink Vivaz …. Read more…

X8 Coming To O2 UK

October 7th, 2010 admin No comments

O2 looks to be landing itself an exclusive on the forthcoming Sony Ericsson X8 in the UK. O2’s October product catalogue lists the handset at £129.99 for PAYG and it’s branded as ‘Only on O2′. The price point is actually pretty good considering that the X8 is broadly comparable to the X10 Mini. The screen is bigger than the X10 Mini’s of course, but the camera is a bit weaker at 3.2 MP compared with the X10 Mini’s 5 MP sensor.

The downside tot his, and you knew there had to be a downside, is that it’s an exclusive on O2. Why is that a downside? Well O2 are not exactly the bets network in the UK. Not that any networks is perfect of course, but the frequent data outages and network failures don’t help their image any. Maybe the exclusivity won’t last … here’s hoping.
